Can orange conquer the crisis?

Energetic, warm, positive, powerful, viable and vital. Not the first words I think of when I dwell on the current state of our Dutch society. We are burdened by multiple crises. Besides the financial and economic crisis, there is the Euro crisis and the crisis of our political system. The focus and attention these crises got led to a decline in consumer confidence. It is historically low. If we want ourselves to emerge from the financial and economic crisis, consumer confidence must increase. I think that if we resolve the financial crisis, a solution for the other crises will follow.

The sports summmer 2012 has begun. The Roland Garros tennis tournament started it off and many sport events will follow this summer. The stadiums will colour orange when our Dutch heroes enter the arena. And if the Dutch athletes perform well, especially our national footbal team, the enthusiasm and positivism will grow.

I have a dream. I dream that ‘our’ athletes will perform fantastic this summer. And with this performance their Orange jersey will inspire us all into a more positive attitude and a growth in confidence. The color orange is associated with energetic, warm, positive, powerful, viable and vital. Let’s proof that.

Come on Orange, overcome the crisis!
